What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files which websites visited by the users send and register on Your computer or mobile device in order to be re-sent to the websites at subsequent visits. It is precisely through cookies that a website remembers the user’s actions and preferances (such as, for example, the login data, the preferred language, the character size, other display settings, etc.) so that they need not be transmitted again when the user returns to the said website or browses from one page of the website to another. Cookies, therefore, are used to execute authentifications, sessions monitoring and storing of information regarding the activities of users who access a website and which may also contain a unique identifying code which enables the tracking of the user’s browing within the website itself for purposes of statistics or advertising. During the browing of a website a user may also receive, on their computer or mobile device, cookies from websites or servers other than the one they are visiting (third-party cookies). Some operations may not be possible without the use of cookies, which in some cases are technically necessary for the functioning of the website.

There are various kinds of cookies, according to their characteristics and functions, and they may stay on the user’s computer or mobile device for various periods of time: session cookies, which are automatically erased at the closing of the web browser; persistent cookies, which stay on the user’s devices until a pre-determined deadline.

According to current legislation, the user’s express consent is not always required for the use of cookies. Specifically, technical cookies do not require such consent. These are cookies used for the only purpose of effecting the transmission of a communication on an electronic communication network or strictly to the extent that a service, explicitly requested by the user, needs to be provided. Thes are, in other words, indispensable cookies for the functioning of the website or which are necessary for executing activities requested by the user.

Those cookies aimed at creating profiles related to the user and used for the purpose of sending advertising messages aligned with the preferences expressed by the user within their web browsing (profiling cookies) require the user’s prior consent.

The Website makes use of cookies for the functioning of the Website itself and for providing the services contained therein, for understanding and improving the user’s browsing experience, as well as for sending You advertisements aligned with the preferences expressed during online browsing.

Specifically, the Website uses

    • analytical cookies comprehensible under technical cookies for the production of statistics in aggregated form (condition of lawfulness: dispensation in view of the collection of consent provided for by the laws on electronic communications, specifically art. 122 of the Privacy Code as clarified by the Guidelines for cookies and other tracking tools — 10 June 2021 by the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali);
    • profiling cookies, including third-party, namely cookies aimed at the creation of profiles related to the user and employed for the purpose of sending advertising messages aligned with Your preferences expressed during internet browsing (condition of lawfulness: Your prior consent. The bestowal of Your consent is merely optional).
